BLOND BASS CABS

Ethos and Sustainability Policy

We have always sought to tread lightly on this beautiful planet, and we make every effort bring this ethos to Blond Bass Cabs. We pride ourselves on an excellent design that makes you happy. Our aim is to design and build Bass Cabs that are beautiful, practical and make as low a waste/carbon impact on the environment as we can.

The timber we use for our cabinets is always hand-selected from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified sources, which supports sustainably managed forests worldwide.

For sheet materials we use Latham Timber, members of the Timber Trade Federation, British Woodworking Federation and the WWF Forest Campaign: This pledges that James Latham will follow business practices that abide by the requirements of the WWF Forest Campaign.

We oil our bass cabinets using Osmo PolyOx Oil a natural and vegan product from the German wood oil manufacturer. Their finishes are hardwearing and made only from natural ingredients, mixture of natural waxes and oils containing no solvents and a very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content.

We believe in supporting our neighbours as much as possible, which is why we try to use local craftspeople. Our aim is to help keep the crafts of carpentry and cabinetry alive.

We are constantly striving for more sustainable and eco-friendly ways of working. We do this by partnering with and supporting other sustainably-minded businesses, and the local community, in an effort to have a more positive impact on the world around us.

>   We care about our local community as much as the environment and therefore source local suppliers for our wood, tools and fixings. We only use wood and construction materials from FSC approved suppliers.
>   We use non-toxic, plant-based finishes.
>   All our electricity comes from renewables via Octopus Energy.
>   We endeavour to ensure our waste is minimal and are proud to say that 95% of what we discard is recycled.
>   Our sawdust and wood shavings go to a local Chicken co-operative as bedding.
>   Our commute is a five minute walk from the Blond Bass Cab workshop
>   Our website and email are hosted by Krystal - powered on 100% renewable energy, B-Corp certified and who pledge to plant 1bn trees by 2030
>   We are fully insured for public and employer’s liability.
